Death by Turing Machine

Indeed, this BoingBoing post about PowerPoint's being Turing Complete made me think of some old posts of mine about PowerPoint and Turing.  Because bloggers like me can almost pass the Turing Test.

I've wondered if it was true that Turing based his test on a game among gay men (apparently in Britland, I'd never heard of it) where you would ask questions to see if the woman you were asking was a woman or a female impersonator. Sounds real sciencey, doesn't it.

I think anyone who believes a machine thinks could probably be convinced that a book's index thinks or a card catalog can think or the Baby Blue Brain Trust thinks.
