Nice Lawsuit Ya Got There

Today we’re releasing a draft resolution that will authorize the House to file suit over the way President Obama unilaterally changed the employer mandate.  In 2013, the president changed the health care law without a vote of Congress, effectively creating his own law by literally waiving the employer mandate and the penalties for failing to comply with it.  That’s not the way our system of government was designed to work.  No president should have the power to make laws on his or her own.

Sorry, that dog just won't hunt, even if Boner had standing.

But the unelected Supreme Court should, obviously. If you'd asked me in 1964 if fifty years later we'd have to worry about an out of control, right-wing court that lied to legislate from the bench in a way that would have made Earl Warren shocked at their boldness, I'd have thought the question was insane.

But it's pretty shocking how far things can devolve in a half a century when things like honor and honesty are thought to be quaint eccentricities of a few nice but pudding-headed idealists and that the thinnest and most translucent of media hypocrisies is sufficient to sell the cynical, corrupt mass of filth to a conditioned and deluded public.

Yet people wonder why I don't believe secularism in society works. People have to have a real and effective belief that some things are just wrong because they are wrong, in no small part due to their consequences. Everything goes to hell if they don't.
