He Forgot To Compare Obamacare To Slavery, The Inquisition, And Dentists
North Carolina State Senator Bob Rucho (R) tweeted Sunday that he believes the Affordable Care Act ranks as worse than the worst atrocities of the past century.
The dentist and Finance Committee Co-Chair claimed:
Justice Robert's pen & Obamacare has done more damage to the USA then the swords of the Nazis,Soviets & terrorists combined.
After several other Twitter users criticized his comment, Rucho posted a follow-upobservation: “Those that tweeted, put your thinking caps back on: ‘The PEN is mightier than the SWORD.’ Edward Bulwar-Lytton,1839. But surely you knew that.”
I'm pretty sure people weren't ignorant of, nor objecting to, the allusion but rather the comparison of improving healthcare access for millions of Americans to, like, some kinda truly awful stuff that killed significantly more than a few people. But surely you knew that.

Forty years ago this dope would have been a silent member of his local chapter of the John Birch Society. Today he's considered legit and worth our time to ignore.

Then there was that disappearing pencil trick from the Joker, if I recall correctly...
However, he might not have covered slavery or the Inquisition because he approves of those two.
Since he's talking in metaphor, the metaphorical damage to the US from the Soviet swords would have to include the Korean War and Vietnam, since the metaphoric Chinese communists wouldn't have existed without them Soviets being there first. The metaphoric Nazi sword, however, was a bit more direct in killing Americans. The metaphorical terrorists, of course, include the Bin Ladin crew, but also Tim McVeigh. Their sword has certainly killed Americans, and metaphorically damaged the country through fear, which folks like Mr. Rucho have made many times worse.
The PPACA, on the other hand, seems pretty well guaranteed to save lives. But surely he knew that, too.

Okay smart guy what's that?
It's a Toledo Salamanca Broadsword worth about a Million Buck. Want to hear a theory?
You went down their to cut a deal with that guy... What's his name???
I don't know. You tell me.
Okay. His name was Bob Rucho. You argued about the price and cut off his head.
Want to hear another theory? This Rucho was so insane from being a lousy Republican that in a fit of depression he cut off his own head.
