Flunking Out Of The Electoral College

This and this are good analysis of why the GOP gerryrigging (see what I did there?) plans aren't likely to pass.  Personally, I think if Republicans really want to do this right, they should eliminate the popular vote in states they control and just have legislatures pick a slate of electors.  That would have the benefit of totally fucking up the NPV Compact, which makes me like the plan very much.
