The Adventure Continues

1 year ago today Ericka arrived in Vermont after our Epic Journey across the country.

We survived 3518 miles together.  We can survive a couple months of bedrest.

Same thing happened to my sister-in-law (grade 1, too). Basically, she was confined to bed, but baby was OK. In fact, he just turned 21 in January and he's a very good-looking kid. Hang in there.

Hey NTodd & Ericka,

Just checked in on your blog and read the news about your "bump in the road." My thoughts are with you both -- err, make that, the three of you.

Keep reading Sam the Tolstoy and Thoreau classics and he'll be ready to rock when he needs to. I look forward to providing him his first horse ride -- perhaps we can combine it with his first act of civil disobedience. Oh wait, it looks like he's already got that one down...

All the best,

Michael Colby

I just saw the twitter entry. Yeah - they're home! I bet Neppy is glad to see his mommy.

Bed rest does wonders. You handled most of the pack on your own before, NTodd, and you can do it again. Just make sure that Ericka obeys orders and stays put. It is hard on an active and strong woman to not try to get up and go. Keep her entertained and laughing and Sam will benefit from the positive vibes. Stay in the moment and accept that this is how it is. That is good training for parenthood!

Erika stay in bed, doesn't matter if you feel okay or not. Stay in bed. I know it is hard, but the beautiful little baby at the end of it is worth staying on your back or left side or however you eventually get told to rest. Ntodd, backrubs and leg rubs help. It is surprising how sore you can get when just lying in bed. I also suggest board games. Emmy sends her love and you three are in our thoughts and prayers.
