Happy Happy Day

As you might have seen on Twitter or Facebook, we got some unexpected, thrilling news this morning.  Ericka was not only discharged earlier than we'd originally been told, but our MFM (high risk) doc felt comfortable enough with the clinical picture and our "being on the spot" to let her come home instead of staying in town!

Consistently good NST (my beloved accuses me of geeking up her pregnancy, and she's right that I eat this technical jargon and acronym shit right up) results from Sam, Ericka's health has been very good, and there were no complications from the steroid shots and whatnot.  We've got our instructions and certainly have internalized the importance of following them.

Baby Momma is still on modified bedrest indefinitely, though we're now playing things week-by-week instead of day-by-day so if all goes well there's a possibility she'll get more "privileges" as things progress.  We're still told that the question is "when" not "if" there is another event, so we are prepared for a slightly less frantic rush to the hospital next time now that we know more or less what's going on.  But every day that we move forward from Sunday's acute terror increases our chances of getting closer to 36 weeks and boost Sam's survival odds by a couple percent--that first 72 hours of stability was really key.

After we got home, we immediately took a nice nap.  Then a couple hours after that, we took another even longer nap.  And we'll be going to bed soon.  I guess we're a bit tired.

I've got lots more to blog, not just about the continuing adventure gestating our favorite fetus but also some political stuff as well about the Vermont Guv race and today's conversation with Congressman Welch.  Not right now.

Tonight we're just chillin', basking in the glow of being home and all the amazing support we've received.

That's great news, and I hope it keeps getting better.

Great news nTodd! By the way, take another nap. It can't hurt and someday you will miss those days when you could take a nap!

Take lots of naps now while you can. And then once Sam arrives remember whenever he naps Mom should nap. The first few months you will be more tired than you ever thought possible. I always said if you wanted to brainwash a huge group of people just promise new mothers uninterrupted sleep and you will have an army to do your bidding!
