Please Help Protect Civil Rights

Our Governor has said he will veto S.115, which would guarantee the rights for ALL to marry.  No matter what state you live in, please let Jim Does Less know that he is a coward.  We'll most likely (hopefully) muster an override, but he should still be shamed.

I've sent him an e-mail and will call 802 828-3333 (toll-free in VT only: 800 649-6825) as well to register my anger.  I'm actually being respectful and simply noting that because of this I will be applying my 2008 campaign experience to helping Democrat Deb Markowitz unseating him next election.

Holy Bejebus! I can't believe you got a link from Eschaton. Of course, it wasn't from Atrios, but still.......

Equal rights for all citizens, Governor. As long as state governments are going to be in the marriage business, then equal protection under the law! Or get out of the marriage business and issue civil unions to everyone.

Your position is emotional, and that's that. You ought to re-think it and sign the bill. Or if you just must veto it, you should drop the "matter of conscience" business because that implies you have made a moral judgement on gay relationships. You should instead just say, "I'm having an emotional resistance to change." People would respect you more.

I'm very sorry that a basic matter of civil rights has proved to be such an inconvenience for you.

NTodd - I heard from Steve Benan that you were a Vermonter. As a fellow Vermonter, I have admired your "work" for some time, never knowing it was derived so close to home. Fully support Deb for Governor. We need to get out in front of this one big time. Thanks for the effort.
