And Fuck Harry Reid

Some people know I hate political parties.  I see them as dangerous factions with no real purpose and really anathema to democracy.  Never saw the point of them, particularly when you can't count on your members to hold party discipline during floor votes or even respect, you know...the results of your party's primary.  YMMV.

Regardless, I'm glad to see my two Senators, a Democrat and an Independent Socialist, have come out against Joe Lieberman's retaining his committee chairmanship.  First of all, he's not a Democrat at all these days--still never renounced his faux independent status after fucking his party's nominee in the 2006 CT Senate race--despite his caucusing with the only alternative to the GOP.  More importantly, regardless of party affiliation, he came out against everything President Obama stands for and campaigned on.

Elections have consequences.  Joe chose his side and doesn't deserve any reward or position of trust or honor in the current Congress.  People wanted change, he rallied against it, he should be relegated to the proverbial dustbin, end of story.

Fuck the niceties of the Old Gentlemen's Club of the Senate.  Fuck bipartisanship.  Fuck forgiveness.

This isn't about any of that any more than it's unfair that I'll never get to walk on the moon.  It's the way the universe works.

Lieberman's more than welcome to caucus with the winners.  Maybe some day after good behavior he can work his way back into some power.  Until then, he's just a single vote, less valuable with 58 Senators than it was when we had 51.

If Harry Reid can't show some spine, resisting Lieberman's jowly pleadings and even the President's desires--you're not going to be in the Legislative Branch after tomorrow, so butt the hell out--then he's just as worthless as Lieberman himself.  So fuck him in advance, and fuck him for his inability to get Lieberman back in the fold over the last 2 years.  Fuck him for all the "we need 60 votes" bullshit.  Also.

I wish Hillary were going to be Majority Leader instead of maybe SecState...
