Epic Journey: Day Seven

Back on Eastern time (Google Maps, KML):

We tried making a reservation online for the La Quinta in Perrsyburg, OH, my old hometown of 17 years, but it was full and the best dog-friendly option ended up being a Comfort Inn across the river in our hate HS arch-rival Maumee.  After getting settled, we went on a little tour of my old environs including Toledo and Rossford.

I particularly wanted to visit the private school Mustang Bobby and I attended many moons ago.  After Old Man Neptune tried chasing 2 bunnies and 4 deer, we wandered the campus.

I went to MVCDS from 1st through 6th grades.  NTodd's Pa and Wife sent me there after one term at Pine Street School (now Frank Elementary) in Perrysburg because my teacher literally put me in a box for acting out in class.

Clock tower on the theater.

Still the dining hall.  We used to have class projects to cut out silhouettes of raptors to keep birds from smacking into the big windows.

Another little auditorium building by the preschool where I remember doing skits and such.

Neppy enjoys a slide where there used to be those big concrete tubes back in my day.

Oh.

Desolate Southwyck Mall reminded E and me of Dawn of the Dead.

We were thinking of going to Zoo and/or Fort Meigs tomorrow, but they don't open as early as we'd like so we're probably just going to hit the road and get to Williamsport, PA, where NTodd's Pa did his alternative service during Vietnam (damned 1-Os).

If you pass through Lake County, wave in the general direction of Painesvill (I went to Lake Erie College in P'ville, back in the day).

Are you going to be able to stop and see Cuyahoga Valley Park?
