Mister Mom - Day One

Molly called last night to make sure I hadn't lost any of her children yet (I don't have an exact count, but I think there are still at least 746 left).  Didn't talk to her directly but via proxy she wondered if I had questions.  Only one: when are you coming home?

And this morning when I was handing the toddlers off at pre-school all the careworkers asked how the first night was.  I indicated that we had survived!

But seriously, last night was good.  The kids are very gentle with the dogs, who appear to have adopted them into the pack, and there weren't too many controversies after I'd dropped Molly at the aeroport (the one here seems anachronistic and makes BTV look like ORD).  Getting the 8yo to the school bus this morning was smooth--herding the 3yo and 2yo to daycare was also fine, thanks to help from The Soon-To-Be-Adult Teen, though I need to allow more time for toddler prep.

Molly has referred to this as my Mr Belvedere gig (had blogging been around at the time, he'd probably end every episode with a post instead of a diary entry), while E calls me Mary Poppins (I was partial to Dick van Dyke's character, though).  They are trumped by the 3yo, who said I should be called Mommydaddy.  Works for me.

Mr. Belvedere always kept the house/kids spotless and sported a British accent (iirc), as did Mary Poppins. Are you sure you're not more like Tony Danza in Who's The Boss?

Hey nTodd,

When can I drop off my kids?

You got keep an eye on those toddlers when you're trying to get ready to go somewhere - they are easily distracted. Wait a minute - that's not just toddlers...
