PDX Update
The protesters were back at City Hall as of this AM. Lots of them wearing "I DON'T KNOW WHERE [ELSE] TO GO" signs around their necks. Bought a copy of Street Roots this afternoon to find a flier inside telling us to stand with them in the Council Meeting today at 915AM. D'oh! Apparently we missed a bit of drama.
We're going to head back there when E gets done with some errands after work. I want to see if I can get some audio this time and maybe more info about plans--the HLF, Street Roots and Mercury blogs aren't really keeping ahead of the game and just reporting stuff really after the fact.

Well, I can't speak about the Merc, but I can say that we are part of the game. This is not a battle that started in late April, but it's something that's been going on for eight years - since Dignity came out of the doorways.
And to the charge that we haven't been reporting things as fact. That's nearly impossible, because we haven't really reported anything at all. We've had three reporters on the story from the get go, and several vendors who have taken part of the protest, and we've been doing are best to support them.
Due to our publication schedule and being a small non-profit that's working with an array of folks on the beat we've chosen to take a different tact to reporting and incorporating the voice of the protest - instead of coming out for a blow by blow call of the events - we've done our homework and that will be evident in Friday's paper. Tune in.

Israel - thanks so much for dropping by! Yes, I look forward to the long article in tomorrow's paper--I was chatting with a vendor over by Trader Joe's today about it and will grab a copy in the AM. I wasn't criticizing any of the sites _per se_, just simply observing that it's been hard for me to get information about immediate plans, tactics and strategy so I can effectively assist at various points. The realtime stuff is key, as is the in-depth reporting. Please keep up the great work.
