Growl

So my stomach is growling already, and it's just the first 7 hours of my fast.  How annoying.

Tonight was interesting because while I ordinarily don't eat anything before class, this semester I've fallen into an evil habit: stopping at McDonald's on my way home to pick up a 4-piece Chicken McNugget, small fries and a small vanilla shake.  I really wanted to do that tonight, but maybe this fast thing can help create a self-intervention and break me out of my corporatist-supporting fast food rut.

Tomorrow's going to be weird.  I have a lunch date with a friend/mentor/colleague that I'd set up last week to make up for a lunch I had to skip when I was down with the flu.  I haven't seen him in a long time and don't want to cancel again, so I'm going and just going to allow myself some coffee.  It might be awkward, but part of this is trying to show people my personal commitment and another thing they can do to lend support to various efforts, so maybe I can be un-self-righteous and talk about why I'm doing this.  Dude already knows I'm nuts, so...

Just make sure to keep hydrated and take some vitamins. We don't want you toppling over on top of the pack.

ditto to mnkid's comment. also, if you can get someone to teach you a couple of basic yoga stretches (hell, you great big DFH, you probably already know the sun salutation), many of those were actually designed to support controlled fasting. waking up the kundalini an' all dat.

the prayers of us all are with you, as usual.
