define victory

we met up at archives metro station and freepers were waiting to greet us. one guy eyed us for several minutes, then accosted thers, who had the 1yo on his back. asked us why we want to lose the war and other shit - yelling even used...GASP! the f-word.

he switched to me and i got right in face. really, stared right into his eyes, brim of my hat almost touched his forehead. i calmly (i'm totally serious) said we'd already lost and asked why he wanted to kill 1.2m more iraqis. he yelled some more.

quite an adrenaline rush, expecting him to clock me during the entire exchange. he was rather, uh...angry and crazy.

then watertiger asked him to define victory. i'm not making this up: he said, "i'll know it when i see it."

i wish that were a joke. sadly, i didn't get audio because i was in the moment. i did take video of the counter protesters during the march and mebbe will have some tonight. pics, too...

We had a 17 y.o w/us and she was yelled at and called a dirty hippy. My older daughter couldn't believe they would yell so violently at a kid. She wondered why they didn't yell at John and I who are CLEARLY adults. Good lesson.
