What Is A Blogger?

CNN hed screams:

Blogger arrested near UCLA child care center

Actually, he's apparently a pedophile who violated a restraining order.  Wouldn't that be a more apt primary description, rather than 'blogger'?

But, but, but...NTodd - "pedophile" is "pwned" by the Rethug establishment, and they must not have been able to find his RNC membership card in the mess of a 'carpartment' this weirdo/sicko lives in... ;) Thus, homeless boy has to be tagged w/'blogger' (guess he surfs the intertoobz at a library or something???)...
Sick sad world...

One estimate is that there were 50 million bloggers worldwide as of 2005. For comparison, in 2002, there were about 57 million bicyclists in America. Can you imagine a CNN headline shrieking, "Bicyclist arrested near UCLA child care center"?

This is deplorable yellow journalism... just as one would expect from CNN.

McClellan's server took his Web site down over a month ago. He said in an interview a few weeks ago that he wasn't sure whether he would try to put it back up.

Doesn't sound like he's blogging, now. How does this sound: "unemployed homeless former blogger"... since they want the word "blogger" in the headline.

Much as I'm loth to read or even visit the CNN web-site, I felt compelled to go and see it for myself. This one really takes the cake! The story was padded with so many un-attributed red herrings, such as in the last paragraph where he's, (the perp), quoted in an interview as having had his site pulled down by his server recently. But, who did said interview? For what? When and where was it published? So we can cross-reference it for ourselves? Oh! I get it! This is that NEW JOURNALISM, that I've heard SO much about. Don't ask questions Citizen! It was on the CNN... That's good enough for you... Now move along, nothing to see here...

I have a funny feeling it was written and titled the way it was as a form of Google bombing. Now there's a set-up with Blogger and Kid Diddler in the same title. Whenever I see something that's really a big nothing but couched in such a way as to be dredged up at a later date to the detriment of somebody, somewhere, I get nervous. Perhaps it's a pre-fab, made to order example, of what a bunch of bad people what's out there on them thar innernets?

I guess channels like CNN is very much interested in negative news on the blogs and bloggers. Hope in the future no blogger wouldn't give chance for another headlines like this...
