Revolutionize: Decarbonize!

Ignorant Dickhead Cockburn (via The Editors):

There is still zero empirical  evidence that anthropogenic production of CO2 is making any measurable contribution to the world's present warming trend.

Not content with lying the science, he goes on to hack out the usual stupid mischaracterizations and misunderstandings about carbon offsets and other new tools that if implemented correctly can help us deal with human-induced climate change.

Of course, we are now finding that if anything, our current estimates of C02 emissions and global warming were not conservative enough.  But I guess it's more gratifying to whine about indulgences than to, you know, try to come up with solutions to a serious and real problem.

Interesting - I'd not really thought about the idea of CO2 offsets as indulgences.

Major difference, to my way of thinking, is that rarely did a plenary indulgence really have much negative impact on anyone other than the schmoe who was paying for it. Unless they were buying a get out of Purgatory free card for murder, or rape, or something, and hadn't already been prosecuted by what passed for the law back then.
