Yellow Moon On The Rise

Coming home from campus this evening, I saw the moon was huuuuuuge and yellow just over the horizon.  Wicked cool...


This is a while later in the front yard when the moon wasn't so big or yellow, but it's when I could take a moment to shoot. 

A local reader requested some information on the effect, called the "moon illusion", so here's a Wikipedia entry that discusses it and links to a number of fine articles on the subject.
