Democratic Pharisees

Joe Lieberman Weekly (via MyDD):

Some big name Democrats want to oust DNC Chairman Howard Dean, arguing that his stubborn commitment to the 50-state strategy and his stinginess with funds for House races cost the Democrats several pickup opportunities.

The candidate being floated to replace Dean? Harold Ford.

Says James Carville, one of the anti-Deaniacs, "Suppose Harold Ford became chairman of the DNC? How much more money do you think we could raise? Just think of the difference it could make in one day. Now probably Harold Ford wants to stay in Tennessee. I just appointed myself his campaign manager."

Jumping Jesus Fucking Christ on whatever the hell things are that the goddamned DLC calls brains!  Do you can Tony LaRussa because he won the World Series in 6 games instead of a 4-game sweep?

It was Howie's 50-state strategy that got you all of fucking Congress, you gumbo-swilling, incomprehensible pussy-whipped DLC douchebag.  And you might also recall that Dean earned more money than Terry Mac during his tenure and, well...WON instead of, you know...LOSING.

I guess it's apt to dust off this Old Tyme Number:

Staffer:
Good McAuliffe
The council waits for you
The DLC and Clinton
Are here for you

Terry McAuliffe:
Ah gentlemen, you know why we are here
We've not much time, and quite a problem here

Crowd Outside:
Howie! Superstar!

Chris Lehane:
Listen to that howling mob
Of blockheads in the street
A million or two online
And the nation wants to meet

All:
He is dangerous! He is dangerous!

Crowd:
Howard Dean, Superstar
Tell us that you are who they say you are

Staffers:
He is dangerous, dangerous
That man is in town right now
To whip up some support
A fundraising mission
That I think we must abort
He is dangerous

Crowd:
Howard Dean, Superstar

Democrats:
He is dangerous
Look McAuliffe
Labor endorses him
Quick McAuliffe
Let's go negative

Terry McAuliffe:
No wait, we need a more permanent solution to our problem.

Chris Lehane:
What then to do about Howard of Burlington?
Fiscal conservative, pilgrim or fool

Staffer:
Only meetups, and mousepads, shoe leather, and hope

Terry McAuliffe:
One thing I'll say for him, Howie is cool

Chris Lehane:
We dare not leave him to his own devices
His net-savvy fans will get out of control

Staffer:
But how can we stop him, his glamour increases
By leaps every minute, he's top of the polls

Terry McAuliffe:
I see bad things arising
The base nominates him
And the GOP wins
I see loss and depression
We'll lose the election because of one man
Loss and depression
Because of one man

Democrats:
What can we do about this Howie Mania?
How can we deal with the Governor Doc?
Where do we start with a man who is bigger
Than George* was when George did his anti-war thing?

Terry McAuliffe:
Fools! You have no perception
He's got a great website
We need better spin
We must smear him completely
So like George before him
This Howard can't win
For the sake of the party
This Howard can't win
Can't win, can't win
This Howard can't win
For the sake of the party
This Howard can't win...

I'm sure Carville's just spouting his usual "folksy" hot air, but damn.  You Democrats do this and I'll never fucking forgive you.

Dean won the chairmanship against the combined weight of all the DLC "heavies". I don't see the people that voted him in now voting him out because he.....won.....

Dean had to be elected to the position, so I guess there is another election coming up and Carvell is floating alternatives.

How many campaigns has Carvelle won since the Big Dawg. I'd be really curious to find out.

Carville needs to shut up and sit down.

Carville has caught the ReNAMBLAcan from his frozen-faced wife. Onkly it's mirrored instead of promoting those who fail, like chimpy did, he wants to fire those who win. teh stupid.

Everything is fine. Situation normal. John Kerry is the most electable and will lead the way...

Carville should be persona non grata seeing as he's known to have tipped off the 'Thugs through his Palpatine Royal Guard wife on Dem strategy in '2004.

Fuck him. He's loyal only to himself and his career, not the cause.

I think that any and every Democratic Party official who does not give Howaed credit where credit is due needs to be ousted asap.
It's the reThuglicas' job to trivialize this mandate - not the Democrats'.

This is all the usual jockeying for power not the Dems are powerful again. It happens after every power shift. However, it's usually done behind the scenes, not for public consumption.

It's being noticed, folks. By the people who matter: The members who elected Howard Dean in the first place, like the state chairs and delegates who are finally enjoying the sweet taste of victory, for some all the sweeter because the Carvilles and Emmanuels had made them survive on stale, rotting crumbs from the Dem table.

They won't go back to the old ways easily. Carville and Emmanuel will learn that, soon enough.

not should be NOW in the first sentence. Argh. Preview is my friend. Preview is my friend.

Just, amazingly, brilliantly written, NTodd.

Oh and yeah, you're right about Carville.
