Big Dog Speaks
Most of us long for politics where we have genuine arguments, vigorous disagreements but we don't claim to have the whole truth and we don't demonize our opponents and we work for what's best for the American people...The problem with ideology is, if you've got an ideology, you've already got your mind made up. You know all the answers and that makes evidence irrelevant and arguments a waste of time. You tend to govern by assertion and attacks.

Ah, the good old days. When our Commander in Chief could speak in multiple sentences AND make sense.
I too miss President Clinton...the last 'real' President we had.

During the run-up to the 1992 election I saw Bill at a rally at Drew University in Madison, NJ. He gave a little impromptu talk on the post Civil War era, the rise of Wall Street, and Daniel Drew. No particular reason--it was just something he'd been thinking about in the car on the way over.
You know--THINKING.
Sigh.

I miss Bill only in retrospect, he's better than what we've got, but no prize. Or perhaps he has grown since then, but he governed as a moderate Republican, and prohibitionist.

I miss Uncle Bill with great respect. Eight years of good governance was a blessing.
And Clinton accomplished all that with yapping poodles snapping at his heels.
I have to believe that Hell exists, as those poodles deserve a special circle there.
