Origins
Hey, since I'm not really in the mood for "real blogging" and still feeling all self-indulgent, I decided to bring Chez Pritsky's origins into focus before I head into town:
- Sam
- Found in our garage, aged 8 weeks, in October, 2003.
- A couple weeks later we found his deceased sibling, whom we named Minowis and buried in our woods.
- Name short for 'он самец, дурак' (on samyets, durak = he's male, idiot).
- Mex
- A denizen of the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, found by my matchmaking friends C&D (aka D&C) last December.
- Adopted January 5th, adapted January 6th.
- Shortform of Mexico, which I speculate is derived from Mexico, Indiana, since he lived in a shelter in that area for a year.
- Kay
- The matchmakers made another ARL discovery just before Mom died, and I was already seriously considering adopting her at that point. Mom cinched the deal.
- Adopted yesterday, duh! Fits right in.
- Shortform of Kayla, which she still isn't responding to, but it's only been a few hours.
Cairo (alive and well at the Ranch with her Mommy) and Saffron (frolicking in The Great Meadow with NTodd's Pa's Wife) are missed and still beloved.

I love the baby Sam pictures. So small. Who knew he would grow up to be so macho?
Kayla's a great name. Now if she'll just stop sleeping on your head...
