And I Shall Call Him 'Number 47'

Daddy, who IS this dog blocking our way to The Meadow?
Not sure, but he's been around before. This time, his presence was announced at 2 in the morning, when the Multidog Household Echochamber Effect went wildly out of control. The Pack got tired of all the hue and cry, but I heard more unfamiliar barking coming from outside, followed by a pitiful series of howls. It was this guy:

He's cute and friendly, but I don't need another dog. Besides, he keeps trying to hump Mexico. Teh Gay!
The boy's got a current Fletcher license, tag #47, but no other ID so I've taken to calling him Randy. Been hanging around all day and playing with The Pack when we go out. I'm not alerting the dogcatcher (maybe I can get Randy's homephone from Elaine at the Town Office) unless the dog's still here tomorrow--I figure he'll eventually get hungry and leave.

Couldn't decide what to caption this:
"Kiss me you fool!" or
"May I have this dance?" or
[Cue Star Trek fight music]
I'm concerned that his folks might be worried about him and that he'll force Sam to stay outside tonight, but I don't want to get anybody in trouble with Bill the Catcher. Randy's clearly a wanderer, and the situ isn't dangerous, so I'll let, uh...visiting dogs lie for now.

If he's been abandoned, you have another dog.
It could be worse, it could have been a hippopotamus.
This happened to a guy in California.
It wasn't pretty.

I'd call it "Jump Ball".

Is #47 actually making your dogs lie down or did he happen upon them like that?
And ya, I'm one of those who has forgotten doggy language and behavior and would worry if I saw your dogs rumpus around like that. Good to see what romping good play is between dogs.

Multidog Household Echochamber Effect
yes, I know this well, though ours has the special added parrot screeching adding to the decibel level.

Why would Sam have to stay outside? Is it his job to protect the household from all dogs # 1 - 50?

Hey, that's a border collie. They are fabulous dogs. There's a border collie rescue in upstate NY - Glen Highland Farm. Maybe 47/Randy could find a place there if he can't find his humans??
