This Should Make Steve Happy

CNN breaking news ticker: Attorney General and FBI chief indicated they might resign in showdown over search of congressman's office, sources tell CNN.

Hell, that will make me happy, too, but I think it's misguided.

[Update: there's a Times article from yesterday about Abu G threatening to resign if Justice couldn't keep the documents from the raid.  Not clear if the CNN stuff is just old or a new twist.]

['nother update: it's old news. Their "sources" must've read the NYTimes.  Fucking CNN.]

Holy crap. This is what Abu Gonzales decides is worth resigning over? Not war crimes? THIS

I'm clearly missing something here.......

Well, as other people have observed: NOW Abu G believes in warrants?! These guys are fucking evil.

There isn't one of them with enough honor to resign. This is just a political ploy, a form of blackmail.

I'd say go ahead let him resign but you know who Bush would appoint to replace him, don't you? How does Attorney General John Yoo sound?

Nothing AG Gonzo would actually do in real life (as opposed to things he would merely threaten to do, e.g., resigning) would make me happy. Admittedly, it is not easy to make me happy these days!

Nora gets it right: if Gonzo quits, Bush will appoint John Yoo. Cue music: "Yoo... does... something to me... that nobody else... can... do."
