Becalmed

No wind is bad when you're sailing.  It's good when you're biking.

Did the Lamoille Loop plus a little spur this afternoon: 20.8 miles at 16.8mph, both season bests.  It was a very pleasant ride and despite all the bugs that decided my windpipe would be a nice place to die, I felt awesome

Unlike the last couple rides, where the wind practically stopped me in my tracks at times (really, I watched my speed Wednesday at one point drop from 19.5mph to 10.5mph in just a couple cranks when I emerged from the shelter of trees--in the flats!), I was able to maintain a pretty good cadence and a respectable speed.  I'm so glad I brought the bike to Marlboro last week--I think it really has made a difference in my slow, steady progress.

Now if only I'd get a good tailwind...
