Worse Than Useless

Democrats who say they will vote 'nay' on Alito voted for cloture today.  So much for using any means at their disposal to prevent somebody they don't want on our highest court for life.  Stupid, gutless motherfuckers.

Unbelievable. What's ever more insulting is that the same folks will then try to tell us that they did all they could by "voting against Alito." What a crock of shit.

Those who voted for cloture today, intending to vote against confirmation tomorrow... I suppose they were for Alito before they were against him.

What kind of mind works that way?

John Aravosis over at AmericaBlog is against a filibuster: http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/01/why-i-oppose-filibuster.html

Maybe the Democrats want Alito to vote against Roe v Wade and our civil liberties so we take to the streets with pitchforks and torches. They'd better be careful what they wish for because if we are driven to that point, the incumbent Dems are going to be voted out along with the most corrupt administration in recent memory.

I'm very depressed today. I need Sam and Mexico style cheering up.

Pretty please?

The final straw that's pushed me over the edge...I'm re-registering as an Independant.

Since he won't do it himself, I wrote Harry Reid's letter of resignation. It's over at the Baltimore Group, but I'll paste my favorite passage:

As I exit the Senate for a lucrative life in lobbying and consulting, I have some advice for Democrats. We have to stop supporting political wimps like me. It seems so clear now, with a Republican in his second term in the White House and a Supreme Court packed with conservatives, that we have to start fighting. If I were to do it all over again, I wouldn't have approached the Alito confirmation with a concern for my Party's political future. Under my leadership, my Party followed a "Live to Die Another Day" strategy, which, of course, led to dying every day. For my part, I refuse to be the lead lemming anymore.

The Stuffed Tiger:

To give the man some credit, he almost pulled off Harriet Miers. Don't worry though, I'm not here to gloat.
