Oops, They Did It Again
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice acknowledged Sunday that the United States had failed to understand the depth of hostility among Palestinians toward their longtime leaders. The hostility led to an election victory by the militant group Hamas that has reduced to tatters crucial assumptions underlying American policies and hopes in the Middle East.
"I've asked why nobody saw it coming," Ms. Rice said, speaking of her own staff. "It does say something about us not having a good enough pulse."
Wow, they never imagined Hamas could win a popular election. Add to the ever growing list:
- BushCo never imagined planes could be used as missiles
- BushCo never imagined an Iraqi insurgency would develop
- BushCo never imagined that the NOLA levees could break
Not the most imaginative bunch in charge.

PS--yeah, yeah, I said I wouldn't be blogging, but I needed a break.

Seriously, what does she do all day, flip through shoe catalogues?
This is the most clueless SofS we've ever had, and that's saying something. She wonders why her staff never told her that Hamas could (would) win, when Abu Mazen (Abbas) was hammering/pounding/making a BIG fuss over that very thing. Abbas wanted to postpone elections -- in a way that would protect Fatah, by basically blaming Israel. Israel, apparently, was willing to go along. WASHINGTON said NO! the elections would go on as scheduled or else. And Little Miss had no idea? Nobody told her? Her staff failed her?
Give me a break.
Why is she allowed to take up space in the corner office at Foggy Bottom?
Little Miss needs to go find some ice rink to skate in.

Add up the lives lost as a result of lack of imagination.
Holy cow....it's frickin' criminal.

BushCo never imagined the deficit would get so large and that China would own us from socks to underpants to top hat.
BushCo never imagined more than 60% of Americans and 100% of the rest of the world would think he's an moronic asshole.
BushCo never imagined that being imperious and rude to our allies would piss them off.
BushCo never imagined that giving massive and unnecessary tax cuts to the rich would anger the 99% of the rest of us.
BushCo never imagined invading Iraq would demand giving reasons for it.
BushCo never imagined that the deaths of innocent Iraqis as well as American soldiers would infuriate all of us.
BushCo never imagined that the Army would break, the false patriotic hysteria would fade, and common sense would return.
BushCo never imagined that mentioning 9/11 300 times in a speech would become comic relief.
BushCo never imagined that just calling environmentally damaging actions by happy titles would not be enough.
BushCo never imagined that getting the preznit to speechify on Social Security wouldn't get people to sink their pensions into Enron type crony corporations.
BushCo never imagined that faith-based initiatives and the blurring of church and state would anger many truly religious people.
BushCo never imagined that losing an American city to a predictable storm and having floating bodies on the news would stun the world over BushCo's staggering incompetence.
BushCo never imagined that taking away the right to choose would galvanize a large majority of both men and women, many of whom had never been politically active before.
BushCo never imagined that making voters mistrust the voting process would cause enormous distrust of the republican power grab.
BushCo never imagined that the truth would actually be told on them there internets by those weirdo bloggerriters.

Hey in fairness to BushCo, they did imagine a way to privatize social security by creating a faux crisis with no actuarial data to back it up. Of course, it failed, but it takes a hell of a lot of imagination to call destroying social security for Wall St's profit "saving Social Security."
Likewise with the Healthy Skies Initiative, Prescription Drug Plan, etc etc I'm gagging etc.
