It's been ages since
NTodd's last haiku contest.
So what's up with that?

Congratulations on your new family member! I volunteer for the local SPCA and have shared the staff's joy of seeing a dog or cat going to a loving home. Nothing beats the feeling of seeing a pet begin a happy life.

Best wishes to you all.

Too bad they didn't adopt a needy HUMAN instead.

Here's a hypothetical for you, Charlie... what if a couple decides they wouldn't be good parents? Would you force them to adopt a child just to make sure? (I'm not talking about NTodd & Stef here - I just happen to know a few couples who've made the choice not to have kids but are still badgered by nosey people like Charlie)

eva:

I'm sure he / she would not grow up to be a pain like me, but rather like NTodd : )

Charlotte:

Anyone who would not be a good parent should not be allowed to adopt - that's the responsibility of the State to determine. Susan Smith and Andrea Yates, for instance, made the "choice" not to have kids and would never be badgered by nosey people like me. However, knowing what I do of NTodd and Stef, I think they would be fine parents, don't you?

It doesn't matter what I think. And I sure as hell am not going to presume to tell them what to do with their lives. I support people I care about in decisions they choose to make, and I never give any advice that isn't asked for.

Good for you. I hope I answered your hypothetical enough then.
