What's A Podcast?

Hell if I know, but it'll be in the dictionary soon:

The term 'podcast' has been declared Word of the Year by the New Oxford American Dictionary.

The term is defined as "a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program, made available on the internet for downloading to a personal audio player".

The word is derived from a combination of "broadcasting" and "iPod".

It will be added to the online version of the dictionary during the next update early next year.

I'm going to be wicked busy before I head to NYC on Saturday, but I promise I will get an NToddcast in the can tomorrow.  That will be the only one I can produce until the week before Xmas: I'll be teaching all next week, I've got test questions to write for some new course material, and my college students will be handing in their final exams which I need to grade before Sunday, 12/18.

You might consider beating the holiday rush and cast a vote for me at NToddcast.org now--it makes the perfect Xmas present for the podcaster in your life.

Didn't "d'oh" make it on the list one year? Maybe that wasn't the New Oxford, though...

Sorry, but this is not related to the topic.

Over the pask few weeks; a small group including myself have been busy creating a website on the truth about terrorism, democracy, dictatorships, human rights, American imperialism etc from the Arab point of view, with a slightly sarcastic twist. I'd be very grateful if you could perhaps have a look at it- there are some good articles we've written which really emphasise the incredible hypocrisy and double-standards of the U.S. political elite in its foreign policy, the injustice of occupation in Palestine and Iraq, as well as a simple 'solution' to solving terrorism which is a must-see. It is not anti-American, nor does it condone or support violence.

Thanks for your time.

Sammy - there's no such thing as OT on this blog ('cept for Charlie). I'll check out the site.
