The Day After Boxing Day
Somehow Cairo and I survived the storm last night little worse for wear. In fact, the bulk of the snow seemed to miss us, so we only ended up with about 5 inches. It is a brisk 10 degrees right now and very windy: averaging 10mph, gusting upwards of 20, making the windchill -5 to -15. Brrr! Small wonder the girls's morning routine outside was rather truncated.

A lovely, if chilly, morning.
Our road hasn't been plowed yet, but it's easier to drive through this stuff than the slush we had yesterday--it appears that at least the first half of my drive home would be manageable, then things look icky closer to home. Regardless, I ain't digging out right now because my back is still sore (having a dogtired dog taking over most of the bed didn't help), as is my left knee (same one I hurt at the beginning of v-ball season).
The good news is that we're spending another day at the Fortress! Unfortunately for Cairo is that it's going to be a boring one spent inside whilst Daddy does some actual work on the computer, rests his body and watches the snow squalls on the pond from the fireside. She really could use the chance to recuperate as well.
