Special Pony Edition Of Rasmussen Blogging
There is some debate about whether Holden deserves another pony today: Bush just hit 40% in Rasmussen. The rules had been revised such that Holden only acquires a pony when Bush eventually hits 30%, but I think we must make an exception given Rasmussen's tendency to be pro-Bush.
Let's make this a voting thread. Do you agree that Holden should get a pony: yes or no?
ntodd
PS--I'd do a real poll, but that's a pain in the ass for just a binary question.
[Update: some questions have been raised as to how well Holden treats his current herd of ponies. I also am curious about how many he actually has now, but that doesn't change my vote, so long as I get a pony ride.]
['nother update: it appears Holden has a suprisingly great deal of support, but we'll need the UN to verify there was no voter fraud. Also, quilty lady notes in comments that NPR is trying to make Bush's numbers sound like they're on par with previous two-termer's. Not so:
The decline in Bush's job approval rating becomes starkly clear when put in the context of quarterly averages for all other presidents since Harry Truman. Bush's 19th-quarter average of 43.9% ranks in just the 18th percentile
Clinton's? 58.8%]

God damn bleeding heart liberal just giving away ponies for underachieving. I haven't seen Rasmussen -ten- points higher than the average of the others, so I say 35 for a pony.
For 40 he just gets a ham sandwich.

No. Not only no, but fuck no.
Who needs them worthless hayburners anyways?
ys?
I need glue. Ship 'em to the glue plant.

I'm onboard for pony - but only after verification that existing stable conditions are up to snuff and that additional ponies won't put a strain on the staff and budget. (via pie)

Young Holden definitely deserves another pony.
Such an intelligent, kind young man.

Holden's stable includes:
Daffodil, Twinkly, Sparkly-Larkly, Holden Jr., Precious Puff, and Scrumptilicious are all snug in their stalls waiting for St. Fitz.
With seven, he'll have one for every day of the week.

I agree with Myrna/Pie:
Let the pony inspectors do their work!
-then, I say more ponies, not less.

Oh, for sure -- pony for Holden.
He's so cute.

And aren't you nice to say sooooooooooo...
Hey!

Si, pony for senor Caulfield.

So this ham sandwich sits down at the bar, see.
The Bartender takes one look at him and shakes his head, "We don't serve food in here!"

aye, give Holden the pony!

Absolutely, he gets a pony. NPR was trying to convince me that both Clinton and Reagan had these kind of poll numbers this far into their second terms. I seem to remember that Clinton was closing in on 70% the day he was impeached.
Keep the ponies coming.

My, my, my.
Looks like someone is trying to put the fix in. Wonder who that could be HC?
Posted by: ql in ny | Oct 28, 2005 9:29:03 AM
Aye, give the lad a pony.
Posted by: Sean O'Caulfield | Oct 28, 2005 9:29:15 AM
Umm, does any one know how to say "Give Holden a pony" in Russian?
Posted by: Ivan Caulfieldenov | Oct 28, 2005 9:32:26 AM
Shit yeah, give that boy a pony, y'all.
Posted by: Holden-Bob Neckfield | Oct 28, 2005 9:43:54 AM
He gets a BIG DOG. No pony, not yet.
I've already offered to go visit.
Posted by: Arthur J. GWPDA | Oct 28, 2005 9:48:30 AM
OK, I'm in the right place now ;)
1/2 a pony, or a tiny one (i.e. seeing-eye pony).
Posted by: Charlotte Smith | Oct 28, 2005 9:55:18 AM
I say Holden only gets another pony when he reveals his true identity.
Posted by: TJ | Oct 28, 2005 9:59:26 AM
pony as long as the numbers next week don't go up. See, that's pretty much a hedged yes :-)
Posted by: Harry Ovaries | Oct 28, 2005 10:00:55 AM
Yeah i noticed that NPR story. she was actually saying that Reagan and Clinton had similar numebrs to each other, not to bush. i hope it was just poorly written and not willful obfuscation.
in any event, i say holden should get a pony.
Posted by: seaxneat | Oct 28, 2005 10:01:17 AM
Nope, sorry, no pony. Nada, none, zip! Stick to the original plan or abandon it completely. This half-assed flip flopping is reminiscent of Kerry back in 2003.
Besides, if he gets a pony, I believe some poor helpless, defenseless kitten bites the dust. Do you really want that on your head?
Posted by: Rook | Oct 28, 2005 10:02:22 AM
Giving away ponies at 40% is a
form of "pony grade inflation",
and I'm against it.
Sorry, Holden.
Posted by: Karin | Oct 28, 2005 10:10:48 AM
I think Holden should get a *special* pony, since it's a special exemption to the 'no more ponies' rule. But he should certainly get a pony for this one.
Posted by: Sissy | Oct 28, 2005 10:26:08 AM
Stop being so liberal with the ponies! A Rasmussen 40 is an honest man's 35, not a 30. Just because they don't play fair doesn't mean our rules have to be distorted.
No to the pony.
Posted by: bbbustard | Oct 28, 2005 10:54:04 AM
Although a member of the original Team Holden (or perhaps because I was -- sniff -- burned so badly), I'll have to side with Nim and bbbustard.
Rasmussen at 35 = real polls at 30.
No more ponies 'til then.
Posted by: sdf (Stu) | Oct 28, 2005 11:53:17 AM
Much as I'd like to, I think a ten point spread, even considering Rasmussen, is a bit long. Rasmussen at 36%, and I'll bring the pony over.
Posted by: minusp | Oct 28, 2005 12:10:34 PM
I say give the man a pony! After all, it is the holiday season.
Posted by: shayera | Oct 28, 2005 12:42:11 PM
Дайте ему поня.
It's good for the country - you can't have "dog and pony shows" if Holden has all the ponies.
Posted by: Bryan | Oct 28, 2005 12:45:51 PM
Give the man his pony damn it!
Posted by: trifecta | Oct 28, 2005 1:55:51 PM
PETA has gone on record opposing Holden's acquisition of any further ponies. There have also been vague accusations of ponies being mysteriously "transferred" to ethnic restaurants. However, I think the fellow deserves as many ponies as he can earn.
Posted by: Capital J | Oct 28, 2005 2:01:37 PM
As long as the man maintains discriminatory lists, he deserves no more ponies.
FREE THE PONIES!!!
Posted by: flory | Oct 29, 2005 1:47:27 AM
Holden should get a pony for this only if First-Draft adds me to their blogroll :-p
