Great Thanks From A Hate-Filled Moonbat
This weekend with the moonbats dwelling on Liberal Mountain wasn't about having a great time, but I had a great time anyway. Infinite thanks from the bottom of my heart to NYMary and Thersites for putting me up and putting up with me for the last 5 days. And feeding me, too.
Some random thoughts:
- NYMary is way too fucking smart for words. No, really, even though women are chattel and don't really have the same intellectual powers as men.
- Thersites is the absolute most patient father I have ever met, especially given that his son is pretty much exactly like me.
- The World's Cutest Baby is truly the world's cutest baby and a wonder to behold.
- The Six Year Old is wise beyond his years: quoth he, "George Bush is a poopy head." I just wish he'd let me win at Pokemon.
- The Teenager is incredibly lovely and talented and slings the shit back at Hobo Man (with all the powers of a hobo...and more!) better than anybody.
Oooh, and I learned 2 really cool things:
- On the drive back to Binghamton from DC, Thers kept me awake with a fascinating discussion about the Great Vowel Shift. I'm totally serious. I'd never heard of it, and given my interest in language and accents, it was the perfect thing to make sure we survived the trip.
- We watched This is Spinal Tap whilst eating dinner, and NYMary observed that the whole "spontaneous combustion" gag WRT the band's drummers was inspired by Dickens. What's weird is that later when I mentioned that I thought a one-year old fricassee would serve well, she wasn't entirely amused for some reason.
I probably learned other stuff, too, but I clearly wasn't paying attention.

PS--I should also thank watertiger for herding us liberal cats, and Hecate for getting us Metro passes, which made getting into DC a breeze.

Actually, I paid for the Metro passes. You owe me $4.70.

LOL watertiger - I'm certain Hecate will pay you on Tuesday for a hamburger today.

I briefly considered retrieving Bleak House and reading you just that passage, but I decided that would be too geeky for words.
But it always makes me laugh.
The six year old is most cheesed off that his favorite playmate seems to have gone missing.
And we'll pay watertiger next weekend.....

NYMary - tell the 6yo I would've stayed longer if he'd only let me win one of our duels. Or if he'd drive there and back to DC>
watertiger - sorry, I have no cash. How 'bout sexual favors?

Well, dang. That's how *we* were going to pay her.... Plus a surprise visit to the pumpkin farm!

NYMary,
Ooooh, pumpkins! [/Teri Garr]

It is the greatest pumpkin farm in the world. Imagine the pumpkin Power Rangers. I can say no more.

I see that I am no longer necessary for this conversation. Or maybe was never necessary...

And all the rest of us have had the vicarious pleasure of sharing your weekend through the pictures and impressions you posted.
I especially enjoyed seeing the pictures of the kids -- they are lovely children, too cute for words!
But, of course, the political messages were (almost) as important and we were with you in spirit.
Thanks for your exuberance and enthusiasm, NTodd, NYMary, Thersites, Watertiger et al.
