Hackett Update

I just got a call from Paul Hackett, who asked for me by name and said, "I never really served and I'm a coward."  Damn, if only I were in OH-2 so I could vote for Schmidt after that admission!

And good on you for finding my phone number.  If you'd like to come over and chat more, my well-armed wife and our dog would love for you to join us here in bucolic Vermont.  We can sit on the deck and enjoy the nice summer weather and share war stories.

PS--I also got a comment in the post below from Paul, who apparently subscribes to Rogers cable Internet service in...Toronto?  Weird.  Well, maybe I should send a message to their abuse department, because this seems...wrong.

PPS--Yes, it was a prank call.  Just so nobody takes this out of context.  And I have sent a message to Rogers about this.  Verizon, alas, will be no help--no caller ID was available, which makes sense if this person was calling from Canada, or at least behind a PBX at their place of employment.

I'd love for one of these cowards to call me at home. Screaming at them would be very therapeutic.

Um, you should make it a little more clear that it was a prank call, Todd. Just in case someone misquotes this or misrepresents this!

Thanx

This must be the same Canadian low-wattage-bulb who used to call me all the time. Back then, he preferred to disguise his voice behind a fairly cheap voice synthesizer. I used to laugh and laugh and laugh at him when he called me -- he was just so utterly silly. "I'll strike a blow for my beloved non-president by phoning up Americans, pretending to be Hesiod, telling them not to read my blog anymore. That'll convince them! And just to make sure they don't track me down in my cold Canadian fastness, I'll spend a couple hundred bucks on a voice synthesizer! I am a genious!"

Ah, my new Canadian friend also can use Google to find the Russian curse dictionary. Dude, my Russian roomie and good friend Dima and I got so bored telling people to fuck their mothers that we invented new swear combinations in our own idiom. It was great fun.

But that was in college. I'm much more mature now.

I wonder if the caller is truly from Canada, if *69 would work?

i got a call before the pres. election, some troll calling me names. and then my brother who i told not to bother me ever again after he chose to believe the swift liars called me one nite and just started maniacally screaming into the phone. and just this weekend my buddies republican neighbor burst into his apartment and assaulted him, all as the result of a dispute about politics.

i think a lot of republicans are not wrapped to tight.
