Someday, someone will satisfactorily explain to me why we begin our July 4 fireworks displays to the accompaniment of "God Save the Tsar" ... but I've been waiting a lot of years for that explanation.
I am glad you reminded everyone that Howard Dean's role is different from the one he assumed as a presidential candidate. It is his job to jab Republicans; he would be remiss if he did not constantly remind everyone of their lies, their ineffectiveness and their repeated abuses of power. If the GOP doesn't like that, well, boo-hoo. If Lieberman and his ilk don't like it, they need to reflect on how well their own accommodationist strategy has worked to date.
NTodd, you and I both admire Howard Dean a great deal, and both of us have similar discontents with the Democratic Party (at least its weak-kneed wing); the difference is that I voice those discontents from inside the party, not always an easy matter, but some Democrats do listen. Senate Democrats are about to have an opportunity... perhaps the focal opportunity... to prove themselves. Let's see how they do.

Roxanne - yup. Dean can make me into a Democrat. I'm afraid the rest of the party will prevent that.
Kath - thanks for the vote, yo!
Steve - okay, I'll reserve judgement for a while. And honestly, I think Reid is doing a great job, which gives me hope.
