Independent Cat

The boy likes to pretend that he's all independent and shit, but he keeps coming back to make sure he hasn't been abandoned again. When he's rested and bored, then he goes back out a'huntin'...
I wonder if I can make my fortune in the "catching cats yawning" market niche?

You are just very lucky to have one sleepy yet extremely photogenic cat! (an amazing eye for photography doesn't hurt either).

Botheration, NTodd, now I've got Joel Veitch's Yorkshire cats singing "Independent Woman" running through my head (see www.rathergood.com)... agh, begone!
Sam manages to be a perpetually photogenic cat, doesn't he, even when he's mugging...

NTodd, you really MUST spice up your life a bit...you're obviously boring your cats half to death.

The more I look at this one, the more it is one of your classics, NTodd. It's a mystery how you get such quality shots.
What is your ratio of discarded to kept shots? One famous photographer said that if he got one shot out of a roll of 36 he was doing great.

ellroon - I've taken about 10,000 shots since I got my camera last March, so I guess I get about 1 good shot out of 100 or so. I play around a lot with angles, lighting, etc, in the hopes I'll capture something interesting by accident. And the camera's always ready because you never know when a shot will drop by for a visit.
Not to sound arrogant, but since I often do, I offer two quotations that I always try to keep in mind:
"Genius is only a greater aptitude for patience." - George-Louis Leclerc de Buffon
"Le hasard ne favorise que les esprits prepares." - Louis Pasteur
("Chance favors the prepared mind.")

I'm curious what camera do you use? Some pictures do not seem taken by a "digital" one (I mean in a good way), but then you switch between color and BW and download often, which points to a digital efficiency? I am guessing it's a really good digital SLR?

eva - I use a Nikon D70, which indeed is digital!
