Full Service

I have no clue what kind of bug this is, but apparently it will check your oil and clean your windshield.
Okay, wicked busy today. Gotta bunch of things to finish up hopefully by tonite, so no bloggy goodness for a while. Suggested activities whilst I'm AWOL: catch up on my podcasts, visit blogs in the roll that you've never been to before, consider Being and Nothingness.

That's a Mayfly.

Mayfly? More like golden unicorn fly...unless it's raising it's right hand.

I thought bugs were the reason the windshield needed to be cleaned?
....am going off to consider Being and Nothingness...
which is very difficult to do together by the way, unless your being is full of nothingness, or nothing is being or ...
if I contemplate too much will I negate myself?

I think that's one of those bugs that have such a short life-span that they don't even have mouths. All they do is get born, reproduce, and die.
I know a lot of people like that.

Here in Detroit, that bug is known as a "fish fly." They tend to appear at the end of June and are out in force by the 4th of July. Streets down by the lake will get slippery with 'em. And ellroon is correct -- they live less than 24 hours and never even have a chance to eat!

That was Mustang Bobby who was right...I'm never right. (Always left! You should see me drive!)
And we get June bugs here in Southern California...in force in July. Little shiny sienna colored beetles that hang on screens and around porch lights.

We get June bugs in Central Texas too, I haven't seen many in West Texas though. It is too damn hot here for most bugs, no mosquitos, no fleas, just fire ants, scorpions, black widows, and brown recluses. Lovely place don't you think?

ellroon --
You're in Southern CA, too!?
Hi, Neighbor! I live in the Palms/Culver City area of West L.A.
Nice to find a neighbor in NTodd's neck of the woods. I enjoy your posts.
To Beingness or not to Beingness; to be Nothingness or not to be Nothingness -- are those life's questions today?
I'll be pondering these questions all afternoon now!
Take care all.

Pomona Valley here, almost to the Inland Empire. Far enough in not get the coastal breezes, so we bake in the dry heat.
I enjoy your posts too Sandy-LA90034!...(except for the ones about how nice your breezes are).

Sandy, I used to commute every other week between Honolulu and LA to work at the Beverly Hills Country Club (formerly Westside Racquet Club). Lived in a condo on Century Park West cattycorner from CC Shopping Center.

Linkmeister - was that schedule (Honolulu-LA-Honolulu exciting or just plain exhausting?)
My Dad lived in Honolulu and worked for Bank of Hawaii for 20 years. (He's passed on now.) My sister moved there after he left to retire on the mainland now works for the Bank of Hawaii.

Considering the first time I made it was on the redeye to go make the computer system work, it started out exhausting and never let up. OTOH, I did have weekends free to drive PCH a lot. ;)
My Dad (also passed away) worked for BOH for 10 years after 30 years in the Navy. Small world, the internets.

Linkmeister, when did your Dad work for BOH? Do you think they might have known each other? (My Dad was in the navy during WWII). I think my Dad retired in the late 80's. He was there from 1969 or so to the late 80's. His name was Wes Hillendahl.

(For some reason my Internet connection keeps dropping me, darn!)
I meant to add this comment before I got dropped:
One more thing about my Dad - he was VP of the Economic Research Dept. and worked in the Oahu headquarters office.

Hi,
This e-mail may seem strange but, my father was William R. Bonner and I went to Hawaii several times in the early 80;s and stayed with I believe Dad's cousin and wife, he was an exec. at Bank of Hawaii and retired to San Fran. They lived in 2 different homes near Hawaii Kai?. My name is Daniel from San Marino,Ca. now Olympia,Wa. Are you related to them?
My Best,
Daniel
