Run For The Hills!
No power at the Fortress of Solitude, but that's why God invented UPS and batteries...

I arrived just after a t-storm.

The heat and humidity at home have made Sam lethargic.
Anywayz, I've escaped for a few days by myself. It's significantly cooler up here than at home, but the bugs are atrocious since there's no wind to speak of. That also means no sailing in between t-storms it looks like. It's so damned peaceful up here, I don't really care.

NTodd:
I guess half of Sam is better than none!
Once again, I envy you the beauty of that vacation spot.
I'm fairly new to your blog, just wondering if the "Fortress of Solitude" is the name of the area you are in or is it something else? I googled it and found references to Superman's hideaway!

Sandy - The Fortress of Solitude is a nickname (inspired by Superman's hideaway) I've given the camp/cabin/cottage we own in the Vermont's so-called Northeast Kingdom (info here and here), which is about 90 minutes from our house. While we do have several neighbors, and Cairo often comes up and loudly demands that we throw sticks into the pond, it is inherently a peaceful place. I like to escape here whenever I can.

Thank you, thank you for your response!
I wondered if that might have been the case. What a wonderfully evocative name!
As I said before, you are so fortunate to be able to get away to such a lovely place.
Thanks again for a great website - always interesting to hear about your goings on.
And I love the critters -- Sam is such a sweety pie. Saff is a good girl. And Cairo -- what a beauty!
