Support The Troops

1500 US troops have come home in "transfer tubes".  Tens of thousands more are coming home wounded and emotionally scarred.  Veterans for Common Sense has a resource guide to help them:

Welcome home. As veterans of every U.S. conflict since 1941, Veterans for Common Sense understands the sometimes difficult transition when coming home from a military conflict. You can take pride in your service to your country, and know that those who have served before you welcome you home with open arms.

We also know that sometimes, coming home isn’t as easy as it would seem. For many, especially those who were in combat, you’ll find that the images of violence and conflict will stay with you forever. For others, coming home may mean a job lost while deployed, or financial difficulties as a result of a drop in pay while deployed in a war zone.

America is grateful for your commitment and sacrifice, and many resources are available to assist you in your transition, from both the private and public sectors. This guide is designed to present an overview of those resources, and to help you find whatever assistance you or you family need.

The guide also contains  information on Supporting the Troops, including AdoptaPlatoon, Books For Soldiers, and OPERATION HERO MILES.  No matter how you feel about the war, this is very important, particularly in light of the Bush administration's continued efforts to harm our troops abroad and at home.

thanks (again!) for the post. I have lots of used books that I'd love to send to our soldiers. I don't support the war, but definately want to support the troops.

and, as an aside, Congrats on the Perransoki!

Now that's what I call supporting the troops. Wonder if the org has a few Dems supporting it?

So, are the rightwankers still saying that we who opposed the war hate the troops? And are they still saying fewer Americans are killed in Iraq in a typical week than in Atlanta or Detroit of Baltimore? And are they still saying, as they were in July 2003, still saying the insurgents are "desperate." 1502 Americans dead; 173 other "coalition" troops dead; thousands of Iraqi conscripts dead; 100,000+ Iraqi civilians dead. Remind me again of how many WMDs we found and destroyed.
