Go outside and chop some wood or make some syrup, you pussy! Get out of bed!

You're not the boss of me.

I'm happy I was able to muster enough strength to make some tea. Who knows what adventures tomorrow will bring?

Poor NTodd. Hey, why don't you do what I'm doing today, and take a sickie?

Oh, wait...

Posted by: vaara | Feb 10, 2005 9:34:45 AM

Feel better already.

Posted by: Roxanne | Feb 10, 2005 10:20:00 AM

Judging by the Weather Channel, it's better to be inside anyway.

Hope you get well soon.

Things to make you feel better:

A vaporizer with Vicks liquid inside.
Cough medicine with codeine.
Chicken noodle soup.
A warm blanket.
A nap with your kitties.

Must really be contagious, catching it through the monitor. My husband who has never taken a sick day, and I mean never, is on his second day home....and I'm feeling a little weird myself...although, come to think of it, that's how I always feel.

NTodd, treat yourself carefully. Stop consorting with wild women, dancing in the snow naked, drinking yourself into a stupor and ending up at WalMart at 3am explaining yourself to a security guard. These things aren't good for your health!

Or at least cut back to one wild woman, dancing in the warm shower, and two glasses of Merlot by the fire.

It's your life we're concerned with here!

Concerned about NTodd?? No, no, no -- just get better to shoot more critter photos!

NTodd!
Get better soon!
And go check out www.iburlington.com. Neat site.

Still love your photos and your blog.

(1) Stay warm
(2) Drink plenty of fluids (of whatever sort: my childhood doctor used to say it didn't matter what it was, as long as it got inside you and stayed there--ice cream, soda, tea, coffee, water, juice, wine, whiskey, pick your poison)
(3) Ibuprofen or Tylenol (as long as you're not drinking alcohol) for the aches and pains.
(4) Call the doctor if it gets worse or doesn't go away in 3-4 days.
(5) Wash your hands. Copiously. Regularly. Easiest way to spread the nasty bug.
(6) Play with the animals in moderation. It will boost your spirits and get you moving--but for heaven's sake don't go out with Cairo and throw sticks!

Gee, while laying around, you could put up you're consession speech on that little matter pending over at OSP, Knowledge section.......

Or, you could completely ignore this comment and rest blissfully in the enveloping narco-cloud.

Poor Ntodd. Feel better soon. Any fever?

Posted by: Rugo | Feb 10, 2005 1:01:01 PM

I can't imagine why you could be sick. You did get one of those flu shots didn't you? Oh. Right.
another triump of the totally capatialist system with no regulation.

Posted by: spocko | Feb 10, 2005 1:25:55 PM

my doctor said we can ALL get flu shots now, that there's PLENTY to go around and they're just giving them away. well. isn't that dandy?

too bad i already got the flu. twice. two different varieties.

there's been some nasty New England thing going around and it's so damn hard to shake and it's like, the second you feel like you're getting over it, some sorry sack of fluid gives you a new and improved mutation of it.

i would recommend a couple things.

1) i know it's cold, but try airing out your home a bit.

2) disinfect all surfaces, especially door knobs.

3) keep changing your pillowcases, maybe even daily.

4) if you're congested don't forget the sudafed, if you can take it. if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, you should consult the dr. also, my mom --who is a nurse-- says that it's okay to take 3 of the little red buggers at once (a.m. and p.m., monitoring the time in between. i think you can take 6 max per day according to the directions), so that if you're wicked congested to the point you can't freaking breath through your nasal passages and your head feels like it may explode...it will help knock the crap out of it. but you have to make sure you don't mix other meds w/ pseudophendrine in them and not take more than the allowable per day amount, or that would be bad. something to try.

5) if it's in your chest, mucinex works pretty well. so does cough syrup w/ codeine. very well.

6) if you are one to have allergies, and you have prescription allergy meds, you might try taking some of those -like nasal sprays- b/c that could help. especially if allergens that are trapped in the house are helping to exacerbate your problems.

7) if you have the throw up kind of flu, ignore 1-6 and have a can handy. you have my sincerest apologies and either way, get well soon and know, you are not alone. this nastiness has been circling around and once it gets you in it's vise-like grips, it's a long road to feeling slightly normal again.

oh, and don't forget to take your vitamins! if you're not eating properly then a lack of proper nutrition is not going to help your system.

that is all. i'll shut up now. :) feel better.

Seconding all the good suggestions above. Especially lots of rest & liquids.

Just scanning through your posts, it looks like this has gone on since about 2/8. Maybe too early to talk to the doctor, unless your fever isn't going down & staying down; a 102-104 fever lasting more than 3-4 days could be dangerous. Your fatigue & blahs might easily last a week or more.

Be on the lookout for the warning signs of pneumonia - it can sneak up on you quickly and make you wish you still had *just* the flu.

get better soon! blogtopia (copyright skippy) has been very dull without you.

Posted by: shayera | Feb 10, 2005 3:54:17 PM

Yup, yup, it's possible to pass the bug along via a monitor. This chest congestion thing was clearing up nicely when I decided to peek in here a bit prematurely. Bam! Now I've got the runny nose and sneezing thing.

Move over NTodd, there's enough blanket there for both of us.

Posted by: vachon | Feb 10, 2005 9:18:18 PM

To health with you, NTodd! Seriously, it's no damned fun being sick, especially being that sick, and I hope the worst is over by the time you read this. Go pet Cairo or Saffron or Sam; it won't heal your body, but it will help your spirit. And whatever Stef says to do to get your health back... do it, for a change!
