I Shop, Therefore I Vote

Slate: Shop the Vote - Wal-Mart = Bush. Costco = Kerry. Costco's Winning.

I'm a member of Costco, oddly enough.

I'm a member of BJ's Wholesale Club. Does that make me a Clinton supporter?

WalMart is a major NPR underwriter. Yes, we get lots of email about it; no, the local affiliate stations have no control over the national advertising.

But this gets into an interesting area of where the public perceives the NPR news bias to be...

Wal-Mart subsidizes its payroll with the public dole. Yep, there's a conservative's reason to hate Wal-Mart: in a recent study, it appears that Wal-Mart employees in some places are paid so little that they have to apply for public assistance at a much higher rate than the local population at large. Xan of corrente has more.

They sell BJs wholesale now?! Damn, what will they think of next?

Weird. I decided to boycott WalMart as much as possible after reading Five and Dimed in America, seeing how they treat women employees, and their attitudes towards unions.
I think I'm going to join Costco.

Ellroon, I boycott them too for the same reasons. That was a disturbing but excellent book.
